In 2009 (Freshman): Brooke appeared in 43 games
for the Golden Eagles, making 22 starts between the outfield and as
the designated player...finished the season with a .200 batting
average after tallying 12 hits in 60 plate appearances...went
2-for-3 against Loyola Marymount (2/20)...scored runs in five
consecutive games from March 17 to March 22...went 1-for-3 with a
run scored in Tech’s OVC Tournament game against Jacksonville
State (5/7)...named to the OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll and
the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
High School: Brooke comes to Tech as a very well-rounded
athlete....lettered three years in volleyball, four years in
basketball and four years in softball at centerfield under coach
Billi Jo Vertz...her senior year, was named first-team all-state,
all-area, all-district and all-conference...selected to play for
the 2008 Wisconsin Senior All-Star Team and was the FRCC Player of
the Year...two year captain of the softball team...was one of only
25 students across the nation to be awarded a Student Athlete Milk
Mustache of the Year (SAMMY) scholarship.
Personal: Brooke Marie Basten is the daughter of Andy and
Jane Basten of Green Bay, Wis...birthday is April 26,
1990...majoring in exercise science, physical education in addition
to multidisciplinary studies in middle school.
